Kenya Visa for Burkinabe Citizens: Steps to Follow
Are you excited for your Kenyan adventure? What if we make your excitement double by telling you that you can get your visa for Kenya from home? Yes, the Kenya government started Kenya online visa facilities in 2024 for eligible citizens. This Kenya eTA facility did two things. First, it made travel to Kenya convenient for eligible travelers and secondly, it promoted Kenya’s tourism.
As of 2025, citizens of Burkina Faso who have a valid Burkinabe visa can opt for online Kenya eTA. For short-term or single-time visits, single-entry Kenya eTAs are obtained, and for multiple entries, multiple-entry Kenya eTAs such as the Kenya One-Year Multiple eTA or the East African Tourist Visa can be obtained.
However, Burkinabe citizens are first required to submit their Kenya eTA application form and upload necessary required documents for Kenya eTA, followed by paying the Kenya eTA fees. Once Kenya eTA is approved, Burkinabe citizens get 90 days of Kenya eTA validity. However, they can extend this validity depending on the type of Kenya eTA they have obtained.
Extendable Kenya eTAs
- Kenya Tourist eTA
- Kenya Business eTA
- Kenya Transit eTA
Non-Extendable Kenya eTAs

- 6 months validity from date of landing in Kenya
- two blank passport pages for stamps at the entry and exit in the passport book
- A complete biographical page on your Burkinabe passport
What Burkinabe Citizens Must Know About Kenya eTA
Single-Entry Kenya eTA Types
Burkinabe citizens, before they begin the Kenya eTA application, should know what Kenya eTA they need to hold. This will be decided on your purpose of visit to Kenya. When it comes to single-entry Kenya eTAs, three Kenya eTAs are available to Burkinabe citizens.
Kenya Tourist eTA: Tourists from Burkina Faso who have single-visit tourist purposes in Kenya need this Kenya visa. However, Kenya Tourist eTA can also be used to meet friends and families.
Kenya Business eTA: Business professionals from Kenya who are on business trips regarding meetings and business conferences in Kenya must get this business eTA.
Kenya Transit eTA: This visa is for people who are not staying in Kenya but need to transit through the country for a few hours and wish to come out of the Kenyan airport.
Multiple Entry Kenya eTA Types
The East African Tourist Visa: The visa lets travelers visit Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda with one visa. This Kenya tourist visa is valid for one year and gives eligible travelers multiple trips to these three countries. However, Burkinabe travelers must first make a visit to Kenya before traveling to Uganda or Rwanda.
Kenya One-Year Multiple Entry eTA for Burkinabe Citizens: If you visit Kenya often for work, family, or tourism, you can apply for the Kenya One-Year Multiple Entry eTA. This Kenya visa lets you enter and leave Kenya multiple times within a year without needing to apply again.
Each visit in Kenya can last up to 90 days, but once you reach Kenya’s eTA stay limit, you are to leave Kenya. As long as your Kenya multiple entry visa is valid, travelers can come back to Kenya.
Just remember, neither the East African Tourist Visa nor the Kenya One-Year Multiple Entry eTA can be extended.
